If something isn’t working, tell us your iPhone model and iOS version. To report a mistake in a lesson, tap Report a problem at the end of it: the app fills in which lesson and which version you were reading.

About the app

What is Conversant?

An iPhone app of short lessons across history, science, philosophy, the arts, economics, and more. Each takes about twelve minutes to read, can be listened to instead, and includes something to try as you go.

Which devices does it work on?

Conversant is made for iPhone and needs iOS 26 or later.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for, and your progress is stored on your iPhone.

Can I read and listen offline?

Yes. The text and images of every lesson are built into the app. Narration downloads the first time you listen to a lesson and then stays on your iPhone. To download ahead of time, choose Download on a pathway. You can remove downloaded narration in Conversant’s Settings, under Downloads & storage.

Will my progress move to a new iPhone?

Your progress is part of your iPhone’s backup, so if you set up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup, it comes with you. Conversant does not sync between devices, and deleting the app deletes your progress.

How do I change the text size or appearance?

Conversant uses the text size you choose in the Settings app, under Accessibility, then Display & Text Size. To choose a light or dark page, open Settings inside Conversant and choose Appearance.

I found a mistake in a lesson.

Thank you. Tap Report a problem at the end of the lesson, or write to us. We correct errors as quickly as we can.

Subscriptions

How much does Conversant cost?

The lesson of the day is free. The full library is available by subscription, with a free trial. Prices for your country are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy. To confirm.

How do I cancel?

In your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Conversant, and choose Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your free trial or current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple, and so are refunds. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I have a new iPhone. How do I get my subscription back?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Conversant, and choose Restore Purchases in Settings. To confirm.

Privacy

What does Conversant collect?

Very little. There are no accounts, no ads, and no analytics or tracking, and your progress stays on your iPhone. The Privacy Policy has the details.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app, and everything it stored is deleted with it. If you have emailed us and would like those messages deleted, write to us and we will do so.
